3 week January Challenge

We all like a challenge at CHALKBOX!

Most of you will know that I am a strong supporter of the Keto Diet. Ketosis is a powerful metabolic state that continues to show promise beyond just “weight loss.” What was once developed as a strategy to combat epileptic seizures is now being used to improve body composition, increase clarity and focus, reverse Type II diabetes, aid in preventing the decline seen in neurodegenerative disorders, lowers inflammation and so much more. Despite this rising awareness of the benefits of keto, there is still plenty of misinformation on how to construct a well-formulated ketogenic lifestyle.

Keto is a metabolic state in which your body switches from primarily burning glucose and carbohydrates to fat and ketones as fuel. This way of eating typically involves consuming a low carbohydrate, moderate protein, and higher fat diet. When you do this, your body starts to increase breakdown of fat which produces ketones in our body and puts us into a state known as ketosis. A keto/ketogenic diet can help you lose weight fat, lower your appetite, improve mental focus, and several other health benefits.

This is not a diet that some people can stick to for the rest of their lives. But it is without a doubt one of (if not the) best ways to flush all of the Xmas alcohol and sugars from your system and drastically reduce inflammation so you can start 2022 fresh.

So, who wants to give this a shot for three weeks with me? After three weeks, I recommend that you all schedule an appointment with Laura to develop a diet and lifestyle plan that will work for you for the rest of your life.

So what is it?

For three weeks, we will adhere to a low carbohydrate, high fat diet. Our bodies are designed to burn fat; all of the carbohydrates we consume only contribute to inflammation in our bodies, and we all know what inflation can cause in the long run. High fat does not imply that you can gorge yourself on any type of fat. It is critical to consume real, high-quality foods.

I'll assist you all with meal planning. Every day, I'll post meal ideas and a shopping list for you to prepare. All you have to do is use MyFitnessPall to track your macronutrients.

Is it a simple diet? No way. It is after 10 days or so, but your body will be screaming for sugar at first because that is what our lazy bodies are used to burning, especially after Christmas! So hold your breath, ignore the cravings for sugar and carbs, and remember that if you stick to it, you will ache less, your back pain may disappear, your mind will feel miles clearer, and your body will be much leaner.

You can use this link to calculate your daily macros. You need to put your net carb anywhere between 20 and 50 grams a day.
