Because We Can

CHALKBOX had planned an ‘in-house’ competition for May, Coach Mel had worked out 4 unique workouts, consecutively, testing their strength, speed, power, and stamina. 

Unfortunately, COVID has other plans. 

So, we have changed our plans :) We have gone back to the drawing board and were inspired by an idea of Stu Brauer. We have created the “Because We Can” - an endurance test composed of a 5 km run, and 250 reps of ‘obstacles’,  like our CHALKBOX Goes Spartan event.  We will be having 2 divisions: Scaled and RX, you can log your score on our leaderboard. 

While social distancing won’t be changing anytime soon we were happy to have been informed we can be performing fitness outside as much as we like :) we know that it’s likely you may want to perform this with someone else for accountability.  So this event will be completely open to the public and anyone can register for the Because We Can event here

So if you have a buddy, make sure you stay 2m apart and push each other through the workout!

WHEN:

You’ll have 24 hours to complete the ‘Because we can event’ starting at 12:00 am on Saturday, June 6th, and concluding at 11:59 pm the same evening.  All leaderboard entries must be entered prior to 12:00 am on Sunday.  YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO ENTER YOUR SCORE INTO THE LEADERBOARD prior to the event.  

WHAT:

We have created two categories: RX and Scaled.  There is no time limit and you must complete the workout in the exact order it is written.  Your running routes are at your discretion, but you must document them on a GPS enabled app and upload screenshots of your run route, total distance and time if requested by the event organiser. 

Can’t run?  Walk.  Don’t want to walk?  Use a bike and double the distance.

Anywhere you like, how cool is that! We wish you could send some pics of where you are running, but that might be a big ask while you are running.

While we are requiring proof of your runs, the movement reps are completely on the honor system.
