How effective is the CHALKBOX Change Challenge?

Getting back in shape after a pregnancy

We love to share with you Emma's story. She started CrossFit at ChalkBox May 2017 which was 6 months after she had her second child.

Emma's main goal was to lose weight especially around her belly which she had gained after having her babies. I remember Emma saying she thought it would never happen. But she was wrong.

Here Emma's Story:

How long after your second baby did you wait to get back to exercise again?

Too long! It was basically when I realised the weight wasn't going anywhere without me doing something proactive about it. I started Crossfit in May, around 6 months after Chloe was born

How much weight did you gain after having 2 children?

Honestly, I've no idea as I don't weigh myself but I would say it was 1.5 - 2 stone!

What have you tried to get back to the figure you had before having children?

I straight away tried CrossFit and calorie control through Change Challenge of Chalkbox.

What made you decide to try CrossFit?

My husband tried it, as he wanted to get fit and lose weight. He raved about it and said I should try it. It was so tough at the beginning. I was very unfit and found every WOD really tough. But I dug in and persevered and I haven't looked back!

Emma now making progress every day!

How did the ChalkBox Nutrition challenge go? Was it hard? Were you hungry all the time?

I found the Challenge fairly easy - apart from getting enough sleep. I'm a night owl but have to get up early for work. It's a real struggle to get to bed at a sensible time, especially as evenings are the only times I get anything done!

Are you back now to the body-weight before you had your second child?

I actually weigh a big less than I did even before Chloe. It's amazing to be able to fit in to some old and much loved jeans.

Do you feel you will be able to keep the weight losses in this challenge off or will it be a struggle?

I hope I can keep the weight off. I actually want to lose a bit more and tone up more - my tummy needs a lot of work! I think I have worked out what I need to do to stay trim and fit now. And I think it's really important I keep it up, as I'm not getting any younger and my metabolism is definitely slowing down. I really enjoy Crossfit so training isn't going to be an issue. Unlike when I've gone to "normal" gyms in the past I get so much out of Crossfit. It really has changed me and my life for the better!

Congratulations Emma on reaching your goal! You look amazing and your strength and conditioning has been progressing fast as well. It's a joy to have you in the sessions and you are a great example for all new mums who like to get back 'to their old self'!
