Our Wodder of the Month

Meet Ian

We are proud to introduce you all to Ian:

Ian started training at ChalkBox about 2.5 months ago. He started with 1-2-1 sessions with his son  (Coach Nathan ) after which he started following the classes. Ian works hard in every session and managed to make in a very short time big progress. Have you noticed the change in his body shape? :-)

Ian has a good team spirit and it feels like he has been training with us for years. We have asked Ian some questions and this is what he said:

What did you do before Chalkbox?

Before ChalkBox I was a member at David Lloyd and did mainly spin classes and used the cross trainer but very little else apart from enjoying the spa.

Why did you start CrossFit at ChalkBox?

I was encouraged by Nathan to try it as he could see that I had lost all motivation to look after myself and get fit. I suppose I was kidding myself and only going through the motions.

How was your first session at Chalkbox?

My first session was very hard as I was very unfit and over weight. I still find them hard but I can see that I am going in the right direction.

Whats was your hardest workout so far?

The hardest part of CrossFit at the moment is the combination of regaining my fitness, increasing strength and getting more flexible

What do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy the challenge involved in every session and the fact that every session is different. I also really enjoy the camaraderie of the other members and find them all very friendly and encouraging. Also the input from all the coaches is good and  makes me realise the importance of doing all exercises correctly.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

My biggest achievement so far is the motivation to.get fitter and eat better, which has led to me losing 18.5 lb’s so far from the beginning of July.

Anything else you like to add?

I would recommend ChalkBox to anyone who wants to get fit in a great environment. My confidence has changed since I have been at the box. I do not worry about the Wod’s as I know that I will be able to do them or a scaled version.

Ian we can't wait to see you progress more in the coming months. You are a joy to have in our sessions and a great example to any person who has lost his/her mojo in fitness. Within a very short time you already have achieved a lot so bring on the rest of the year!
