Raise the Bar
CHALKBOX has gone through a lot of changes in the last 9 months. We've relocated the Box and replaced the coaching staff. We like to use this as a chance to reflect on what we've accomplished in the last few years and to identify areas where we may improve.
We sat together with the new coaching team and outlined our priorities for the coming months in order to ensure that we fully embrace the CHALKBOX Philosophy:
Our aim is to make people move better. When we move better we will work on getting stronger
and fitter and we will be prepared for anything life throws at us. Our mission: “Help people live better lives through fitness”
To accomplish this, we will devote more work to ensuring that EVERYONE moves in accordance with CrossFit's movement standards. This means that we will correct everyone who needs it in order for you to move well and safely. This may imply that we will need to reduce the weights you are using or slow you down during your workout.
To get the most out of each class, we also require that you arrive on time for each session. Even better, arrive 5 minutes early and begin moving tight muscles. Latecomers to class frequently disrupt the whiteboard discussion or require more time for the coach to go through the warm up with you again. Please make every attempt to arrive on time. Life, of course, sometimes gets in the way of your goals. Simply let your coach know if you are having difficulty getting to a class on time, and the coach will have a quick warm up ready for you when you arrive.
We also ask that you take the time to prepare for each lesson. We have a fantastic device called BoxMate that allows you to view the workout you will be completing. Please take 5 minutes to go through this before arriving. This saves the coach from having to explain the workout in great detail. We will always go through the workout and offer you the required recommendations on how to complete it, but if you have already read the programme, you most likely already have a plan in your head on how to complete it and set up your station.
Finally, we'd like to express how proud your coaches team is to be a CrossFit affiliate. For nearly 9 years, CHALKBOX has been a CrossFit Affiliate. CHALKBOX is a community of support, information, and motivation to help you reach your fitness objectives.
We are not the Reynolds next door where people walk in with their heads down, do their workout wearing headphones, and then leave. At CHALKBOX we pull each other through workouts, celebrate workout completion with a fist bump, record our scores on the whiteboard, and don't leave the Box until the last person has finished the workout.

check the workout in BoxMate before class
stick to the movement standards by following your coach’s guidance
arrive each class on time
encourage others when they need it
finish with a fist bump and say well done to others
don’t leave until everyone is finished. A class is 60min so use every min.
