Why I like the Keto diet

Ketones are produced when your body has not got enough glucose to get energy. The Ketones your body produces are used to burn fat which gives you the energy you need. This means that your body burns body fat to get energy.

Your body will start producing ketones when there is not enough sugar and glucose to fuel the body. This means cutting Carbs in your diet.

Our body naturally stores ‘unburned energy’ into fat. But as we live in a time where we always have food to our exposure and never need to feel hungry, there is no need to store fat.

When I drastically lower my carb intake and increase the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats in my diet I feel more focused and my thinking gets more clear. That is because these ‘good fats’ can help the brain function more efficiently. A good source of healthy fats can be found in fish, olive oil, avocados and nuts.

When I drastically lower my carb intake and increase the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats I ache less after a heavy workout. Ketones aren’t just fuel. They’re also anti-inflammatory signaling molecules.

Specifically, ketones inhibit an inflammatory pathway called the NLRP3 inflammasome. So this will reduce inflammation in my muscles but don’t forget that chronic inflammation is associated with heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. There are even studies that state that the keto diet improves the skin and makes it look more youthful. a ketogenic diet can be a very potent force for anti-aging and general health, having a profound effect on a number of aging pathways in a very beneficial manner

So in short, when I cut my carb intake and increase the good fats in my diet, I burn fat and thus get leaner, I reduce the inflammation that can cause many diseases like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders like inflammatory bowel disease and many more and ketones are a brain fuel that can readily pass the blood-brain barrier and be used by brain cells. It's no surprise that many people in ketosis feel a boost of mental clarity and focus. And last I get a better glow on my skin.

So for me, it’s a no-brainer. My body operates better on a high-fat diet.

Don’t go for the commercial keto brands though. There are things like keto shakes on the market. We all know that you need to chew your food to get the best metabolism. Stick to real foods and good fats.
