Get comfortable being uncomfortable
I recently listened to a Shaolin master talking about this, and it reminded me of something I’d heard years ago through CrossFit. It also made me think about what our members experience at CHALKBOX every week.
That moment in a workout when you’re out of breath, your muscles are tired, and your brain starts saying, “This is hard. I want to stop.”
With coaching and encouragement, you learn to breathe, focus and tackle the next rep. You discover that you can handle more than you thought.
You’re raising the bar for what feels comfortable.
The workout that once felt overwhelming becomes manageable. A weight that used to intimidate you becomes one you lift with confidence.
That change happens when you step beyond your comfort zone and challenge the limits you thought you had. And that’s what we do at CHALKBOX: help you explore those limits, safely and progressively, with support around you.
Life gives us uncomfortable moments too. Stress, uncertainty, sadness and situations we would never choose. Training doesn’t make those problems disappear, but it can give us practice at staying calm, trusting ourselves and taking things one step at a time.
Every time you work through a challenging moment in the gym, you give yourself evidence: “I can do difficult things.”
That’s why training at CHALKBOX means more than getting fitter, stronger or leaner. It’s also a chance to build patience, confidence and resilience.
We’re not talking about ignoring pain or pushing through injury. We’re talking about recognising the difference between “I can’t” and “this feels uncomfortable”—and discovering what you’re capable of.
I’m convinced many of our members will know exactly what I mean. They’ve felt it in a workout—and perhaps recognised that same strength in themselves outside the gym.
A stronger body. A stronger mind. A comfort zone that keeps growing.
Come and give CHALKBOX a try. You might discover more strength than you expected.
