Meet our Athletes!
Why we add the competitive factor to the workouts
We have just finished the 2017 CrossFit Open competition. We had 4 teams competing against each other with on average 14 people per team.
How could they score points? Bringing a snack for the workout to share, making funny pictures, showing team spirit, setting new records in speed, weight or new moves, by giving all of the 5 workouts a go and adding their score to our system. It was great fun and people enjoyed the competitive side of the workouts so much that lots have asked to make this a regular thing.
Why? All our members train hard on a daily basis at our Box. They try new things every time, they push themselves and their focus in every session is to get stronger and fitter. The competitive aspect of CrossFit is important as this is a measurement for our athletes to put in practise what they work hard for on a daily basis.
Does that mean you should only do CrossFit at ChalkBox if you are good at competing? No, of course not. Every member at our box is improving in their fitness and strength. Some members start at a very fit level and some have never been inside a gym before. Still they all make enormous progress by following our program and therefor they all enjoy the competitive aspect of CrossFit so they can put in practise what they have learned. The fun about our ChalkBox members is that I hear all members cheering on the last person crossing the finish line much louder then the first person crossing the line.
Why? Because its not about where you finish in the competition, its about giving it a try and achieving your goals.
This years CF Open 2017 winning team is: WOD SQUAD; Team captain: Herman Waschefort with in his team: Pauline Gibson, Gordon Murphy, Charlotte Alexander, Dan Pope, Dominic O'Mahoney, Ryan Donaldson, Gemma Emmings, Marian Lively, Lee Murrell, Suzanne Clark and Mari Neves
This team brought in most snacks, got most PB's and joined most of the workouts. Great work guys!
Team Amrappers, Chalk and Cheese and In WOD we Trust all did a brilliant job as well. Bring on the next competition!
